The holiday season creates an influx of shipments from around the globe. Peak shipping season, in preparation for the holidays, starts in AUGUST! So that new guitar you bought for your nephew may have only been on US soil for just a few months.
Five Golden Fun Facts
- A 40-foot shipping container can hold over 8,000 shoe boxes, and a 20-foot container can hold about 3,500. Now that’s going to take a LOT of wrapping paper!!!
- The largest cargo ship is almost a quarter of a mile long and carries 15,000 shipping containers. Those 15,000 containers can house 745 million bananas. Do you think reindeer like to eat bananas?
- At any given time, there are about 20 million containers traveling on the ocean!
- China builds about 97% of all the shipping containers in the world. This is due to cheaper labor costs. Rumor has it, Santa’s outsourced to China as well…but you didn’t hear that from us!
- If every container were to be laid out, ends to ends, they would go around the planet TWICE! We’re hear the man in the red suit can do that in ONE NIGHT!
